Fifty like-minded women met on a very cold and snowy day on Sunday 28th May 2000 in the Black Opal room at the Canberra Racecourse to form the club 'Women in Racing Inc'. The club's aim is to introduce more women to the exciting and vibrant world of thoroughbred horse racing in Canberra and the surrounding regions. The membership has grown to over 150 with approximately 25 of the foundation members still playing very active roles in the club.
